Dr. Anthony Ulrich, DVM, MS, Practice Owner
Dr. Ulrich is a 1984 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Ulrich is the owner of Ulrich Veterinary Clinic and has practiced in Southern Illinois since 1984.
He introduced laparoscopic surgery to the tri-state area in 2008 and laser therapy for arthritic conditions in 2011. His areas of interest include small animal internal medicine, as well as laparoscopic and orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Ulrich’s hobbies include sky diving, marathon running, sailing and sitting on the beach and unwinding. He is married to the love of his life, Amy, and they have three boys. They also have two cats and two dogs that keep them very busy.
Dr. Allen Walter, DVM
Dr. Walter grew up on a small dairy farm in rural Massac County, Illinois. He was involved in many endeavors such as 4-H, FFA and athletics before graduating and moving on to McKendree College in 1998. In 2002, Dr. Walter graduated McKendree summa cum laude with a B.S. in biology. He completed his education at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine by obtaining his Doctorate with high honors.
Soon after beginning practice, Dr. Walter married his wife Jenifer, a speech pathologist. In 2008, the couple welcomed their first and only child to the family, a girl named Sophie. In addition, two pound rescue dogs, Lucy and Lillie, make their residence at the Walter household. Dr. Walter’s current practice interests include cytology and clinical pathology, as well as small animal ultrasound and ruminants.
Penny Walter, Office Manger & Receptionist
Penny joined our team in 2018. She has been working in the Veterinary services for 30+ years. Penny was born and raised in Indiana and has always had a great love for animals. She is passionate about working with clients and her team to help keep their pets happy and healthy. She has 1 daughter, 2 sons & 1 grand-daughter. She has Terrier mix “Tate”, a black Lab mix “Kota” and 3 cats “Pipestone”, “Ricki” & “Izzy”. Penny enjoys bowling and watching her sons dirt-bike race during her time off.
